Today: British Airways Reveals New A380 Cabins Across All Four Classes

British Airways, the flag carrier of the United Kingdom, has revealed a major redesign of its Airbus A380 long-haul cabins, introducing new First Class suites, an updated Club World Business Class product, and improvements to its Premium Economy Class and Economy Class cabins. The refurbished A380 will accommodate 106 Club Suite seats across the entire upper deck, making it the world’s largest Business Class cabin. The upgrades are part of a wider multi-billion-pound investment in the passenger experience.

The extensive refurbishment will transform the A380 aircraft from nose to tail, with new seats in all four cabins, larger entertainment screens, redesigned interiors and upgraded onboard amenities. The first refurbished Airbus A380 is expected to enter service in the coming months. Several new amenities are also being introduced across British Airways’ wider long-haul fleet in phases, with the rollout dates varying by cabin and item.

British Airways operates a fleet of 12 Airbus A380-800 aircraft, with the first example delivered in July 2013. As of 2026, the fleet is approximately 12 years old on average. The double-decker aircraft serve selected high-demand long-haul routes, including destinations such as Boston, Dubai, Singapore and Los Angeles, although deployment varies by season and schedule. The refurbishment program will give these aircraft a substantially updated onboard experience.

A New First Class Experience

At the heart of the refurbishment is British Airways’ new First Class suite, designed to offer greater privacy and comfort in an environment inspired by a contemporary luxury hotel. The cabin will combine refined British design details with practical features intended to make long-haul journeys more relaxing.

Passengers travelling together in the central seats will be able to lower the divider to create a shared space, while retractable tables allow them to enjoy meals together. The suites will also feature integrated minibars stocked with refreshments and premium snacks.

BRITISH AIRWAYS NEW FIRST CLASS

The onboard dining experience has been redesigned around fresh ingredients and British produce. A new From the Grill concept will allow passengers to choose from premium main ingredients, including roast rack of lamb and grilled salmon, accompanied by sides and sauces. Alternatively, they can select from a menu of signature main courses.

Meals will be served on contemporary stoneware and fine bone china, complemented by specially designed cutlery and glassware. The drinks selection will include premium Champagne, such as Bollinger La Grande Année, alongside a curated gin menu and non-alcoholic alternatives.

Sleep amenities have also received attention. First Class passengers will benefit from new sleepwear, slippers, a mattress, a lightweight cotton duvet and redesigned pillows. A woven day blanket and navy cushion complete the refreshed suite.

The new First Class amenity kit, created in collaboration with British heritage brand Swaine, takes inspiration from the luggage used by early air travellers. Available in royal blue and cream, it contains skincare products from Wildsmith, including a face mist, moisturiser, lip balm and overnight mask.

British Airways is also introducing enhanced service training for its First Class cabin crew, with a focus on more personalised and attentive hospitality.

An Evolution of the Club Suite Business Class

British Airways’ Club World Business Class cabin will receive an updated version of the airline’s Club Suite, featuring revised finishes and a contemporary color palette inspired by its signature blue, red and cream colors.

The redesigned suites will incorporate additional storage and improvements to functionality, informed by customer feedback. The aim is to make the cabin more comfortable while retaining the privacy and practicality of the existing Club Suite concept.

The refurbished A380 will accommodate 106 Club Suite seats across the entire upper deck, making it the world’s largest Business Class cabin, according to British Airways. The space will be divided into four cabin zones, with dedicated areas, Club Kitchens and redesigned galleys intended to give passengers more opportunities to move around and relax during the flight.

Business Class passengers will also receive new amenity kits in four designs created by British artists in collaboration with the art platform Rise Art. The kits will contain products from British wellness brand anatomē.

Improvements to Premium Economy and Economy

The refurbishment extends beyond the premium cabins, bringing upgrades to both World Traveller Plus Premium Economy and World Traveller Economy Class.

In Economy Class, passengers can expect larger entertainment screens, wider seats and improved bedding. The new pillows will feature a contemporary herringbone pattern and additional filling, while thicker blankets in British Airways’ signature blue include red Speedmarque detailing.

Premium Economy Class passengers will benefit from larger entertainment screens, privacy wings on their seats, and new pillows and bedding designed to improve comfort on long-haul flights. A redesigned reusable amenity kit, shaped as a tote bag for use after the journey, will include travel essentials such as socks, an eye mask and a dental kit, alongside a moisturizing balm from Dr.PAWPAW.

A Major Airbus A380 Cabin Refurbishment

The scale of the project reflects British Airways’ ambitions for its flagship long-haul aircraft. Each refurbished A380 will incorporate more than 35,000 individual parts, with redesigned galleys, stairways and cabin finishes contributing to a more consistent interior throughout both decks.

The aircraft will retain four cabin classes, with 12 First Class seats, 106 Business Class seats, 84 Premium Economy seats and 215 Economy seats.

The A380 refurbishment forms part of a broader investment in the passenger experience, which also includes improvements to Heathrow lounges, aircraft and technology. British Airways has announced plans to redesign every lounge at Heathrow over the coming years.

The introduction of the refurbished A380s marks an important step in the airline’s long-haul cabin renewal program, with the new interiors and onboard services intended to improve the journey across every travel class.
