Top 10: most fabulous luxury hotels in Thailand

Monday newsletters always feature top 10 travel lists to inspire.

Today (April 17, 2017): Top 10 best luxury hotels & resorts in Thailand.

A veritable paradise of sugar white sand, crystal clear waters, and dramatic scenery, Thailand’s tropical beaches are renowned around the globe for their beauty, and as a consequence, unfortunately, mass tourism has spoilt some of them. Remember the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role? Well, these days you have to look a little harder to find the utopian Thai paradise as described in Alex Garland’s 1990s cult backpacking novel, although little gems still shine brightly on the Thai island Koh Phi Phi, where the movie was filmed. Despite being a magnet for budget and backpacker travelers, Thailand also happens to be home to some of the world’s most ultra-luxurious resorts, whether it be beach enclaves, urban hotels or jungle retreats. Here’s my selection of the top 10 most exclusive resorts in Thailand, and while all of them are stunning hotels, the number one resort is an absolutely amazing, out-of-this-world place.

There is more information (with trip reports & Youtube clips) below the slideshow. Think I missed one? Share your favorite Thai hotel in the comments section, or take my poll below.

  1. I’ve only stayed at one of these (the Four Seasons Koh Samui) and I thought THAT was the best hotel in Thailand, but it really does seem like some of these ones you ranked higher than it would definitely give it a run for its money. Soneva Kiri looks amazing!
