Greece has a large number of magnificent islands scattered in the Aegean and Ionian Seas, with estimates ranging from somewhere around 1200 to 6000 depending on the minimum size to take into account. Only 227 of these islands are inhabited. The sunny weather, turquoise waters, magnificent beaches, romantic sunset, delicious food, unique ambiance, and archeological sites have made the Greek islands extremely popular among Greek and foreign visitors. From Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete, to Skiathos, Rhodes, and Kefalonia, the Greek islands ignate the travel spirit and promise a dreamy holiday. Here are my 10 favorite hotels in the Greek islands to relax and indulge in luxury.

9. PERIVOLAS, SANTORINI
Poised on a cliff high above the Aegean, Perivolas is a boutique escape, offering laidback luxury and designed as a place where you can let the rest of the world slip away. Built amphitheatrically, Perivolas’ secluded location combines expansive views with the luxury of absolute tranquillity. It’s just a short walk from Oia, the most beautiful village on Greece’s most romantic and dramatic island. 5. CAVO TAGOO MYKONOS
Blending cosmopolitan sophistication and barefoot island chic, the 5-star Cavo Tagoo is a luxury hotel located on the outskirts of Mykonos Town on the idyllic Greek island of Mykonos. 4. ELOUNDA BEACH HOTEL & VILLAS, CRETE
The first fully-fledged five-star resort in Greece, Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas put the the sleepy fishing village of Elounda in northeast Crete on the map in 1971. Since then half a dozen pretenders have squeezed into Mirabello bay, jostling for a sea-view slot, but Elounda Beach will always have the prime position. The property includes several mini-resort-like clusters, like the Yachting Club, whose state-of-the-art bungalows have electric sliding glass doors and retractable television screens. There’s a supervised kid’s program and playground for children, as well as a wealth of water sports and movie screenings in an open-air theater for teens. Adults can enjoy the peace and quiet of acclaimed spa Espace Vitalité Chenot or a quiet meal at one of nine world-class restaurants. Crete’s cultural offerings are nearby but many guests hardly leave the property after entering the oasis of this exclusive resort.

3. GRACE SANTORINI
Grace Santorini is an exclusive boutique hotel in Santorini, perched 363 meters (1190 ft) above Santorini’s world-famous caldera, offering breathtaking views.
