Today: Aman will open a secluded ranch retreat in Texas

The ultra-luxury hospitality landscape in the United States is about to gain a striking new addition. Aman — the world’s most exclusive hotel brand — has officially announced Amansanu, a new resort and residential retreat set deep within the rugged beauty of Texas Hill Country. Located roughly 90 minutes northwest of Austin, the project marks a bold new direction for the iconic brand — introducing Aman’s first-ever ranch-inspired destination complete with fully serviced stables and immersive outdoor experiences rooted in the landscape. For devoted Aman travelers, this is more than just another hotel opening. It represents an evolution of the brand’s identity across North America, expanding beyond Aman’s existing desert, mountain, and urban sanctuaries into a distinctly Texan interpretation of luxury, nature, and privacy.

With the launch of Amansanu, Aman continues its steady expansion throughout the Americas. The Texas retreat will become the brand’s sixth U.S. property, joining celebrated destinations including Aman New York, Amangiri, and Amangani, which is currently undergoing renovations. The project also complements a growing pipeline of forthcoming Aman developments across the region, including Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills, Amanvari in Mexico, and Amancaya in the Bahamas. Yet among all of these projects, Amansanu may prove to be one of the most distinctive. Texas Hill Country offers a landscape unlike anywhere else in Aman’s portfolio — a vast terrain of limestone escarpments, rolling hills, winding creeks, and expansive canyon views that create an atmosphere of quiet isolation while remaining accessible from one of America’s fastest-growing cities.

A New Interpretation of the Luxury Ranch Experience

Luxury ranch travel in the American West has long been dominated by a select group of iconic destinations such as Brush Creek Ranch and The Ranch at Rock Creek. These properties helped define a category that blends rugged outdoor adventure with refined hospitality. Amansanu enters this world with a distinctly Aman approach: understated elegance, architectural restraint, deep privacy, and a profound connection to the natural environment.

What makes the announcement especially notable is Aman’s decision to introduce its first fully serviced equestrian program. The resort’s stables will serve as the centerpiece of an elevated ranch experience, offering horseback riding trails that weave through the surrounding terrain and limestone valleys. Rather than recreating the traditional Western ranch aesthetic, Amansanu appears poised to reinterpret it through Aman’s globally recognized design philosophy — one rooted in serenity, minimalism, and a strong sense of place.

Texas Hill Country: A Unique Setting

The choice of Texas Hill Country feels particularly timely. Over the past decade, Austin has transformed into one of the country’s most dynamic cultural and economic centers, fueled by a booming tech industry, a thriving culinary scene, and a growing international profile. Yet despite the city’s rapid evolution, the region has lacked a truly ultra-luxury countryside retreat capable of competing with the premier wilderness resorts of Wyoming, Montana, or Utah. Amansanu may finally fill that gap, offering affluent travelers an escape that combines wilderness immersion with Aman-level sophistication. Its proximity to Austin is expected to become one of the property’s greatest strengths. Guests will be able to leave the energy of the city behind and arrive in a secluded natural sanctuary in under two hours — a balance of accessibility and remoteness that few luxury resorts successfully achieve.

Architecture Designed Around the Land

The resort will be designed by renowned Seattle-based architecture firm Olson Kundig, celebrated internationally for projects that respond organically to their natural surroundings. At Amansanu, the architecture is intended to unfold in quiet dialogue with the landscape itself. Structures will follow the contours of the hills and limestone terrain, maximizing privacy while framing uninterrupted views of the valleys and canyons beyond. The resort will consist of standalone guest pavilions carefully positioned across the property to create a strong sense of seclusion. True to Aman’s design philosophy, the emphasis appears to be less about spectacle and more about atmosphere — spaces that feel calm, grounded, and deeply connected to nature.

The development will also include a limited collection of Aman-branded private residences. These homes, ranging from four to eight bedrooms, will sit on expansive hillside plots beginning at ten acres each. Open-plan interiors, generous outdoor terraces, and private pools are designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment while maximizing panoramic Hill Country views.

Wellness, Dining, and Outdoor Experiences

As with every Aman destination, wellness will play a central role in the guest experience. The resort’s Aman Spa and Wellness Center will be positioned along a natural creek, creating a tranquil setting for holistic treatments and restorative programming. While specific wellness offerings have not yet been announced, Aman properties are known for integrating local traditions, mindfulness, movement, and personalized therapies into their spa concepts. Beyond wellness, Amansanu will feature multiple dining venues, racquet sports courts, hiking trails, and curated outdoor adventures shaped by the rhythms of the landscape.

The overall vision appears to focus less on spectacle-driven luxury and more on immersive, slow-paced experiences — mornings spent horseback riding through the hills, afternoons at the spa beside the creek, and evenings overlooking the changing colors of the Texas sky.

Why Amansanu May Matter

Luxury hospitality in Texas has traditionally centered around city hotels, private ranches, or upscale resorts that stop short of true ultra-luxury positioning. Amansanu has the potential to change that entirely. If Aman successfully translates its globally admired design ethos into the ranch environment, the property could become one of the most sought-after destinations in the United States — not only for Aman loyalists, but for travelers seeking a more refined and contemporary take on the American wilderness experience.

For now, Aman has not announced an official opening date for Amansanu. But even at this early stage, the project is already generating significant attention within the luxury travel world. And if Aman’s existing properties are any indication, Amansanu won’t simply be another resort in Texas Hill Country. It may become the property that finally places Texas at the center of ultra-luxury ranch travel in America.
